Tranformation ‘Kompas’ Schoolhouses, Barendrecht

In the middle of the ‘Bijdorp’ district, near the pleasant village center of Barendrecht, primary school Het Kompas was located, which has been transformed into a contemporary residential building. The apartments on the ground floor each had their own garden. Balconies were realized for the apartments on the floors. The building has also been expanded with an elevator installation. The facade will also receive a new appearance. The former school building offers space for 18 apartments. In addition, an extra building layer was added which offers space for another 9 apartments.

Bureau Bouwkunde Nederland took care of the architectural plan for Adriaan van Erk for the Final Design (DO) and subsequently the application for an environmental permit. After the application we also made the working drawings.
