The nature experience centre De Oostvaarders in Almere is situated against a dike at the Oostvaardersplassen and at the intersection of landscapes with different characteristics: land, water, forest, and reed fields. It attracts many nature enthusiasts, so in 2019, it was expanded to include two group and education rooms with a view of the Oostvaardersplassen, a restaurant with a kitchen, classrooms, and a workshop for Staatsbosbeheer (Dutch Forestry Commission). Office functions for employees are added on the upper floor.
Bureau Bouwkunde provided the cost estimation for this expansion project, in collaboration with Van Veen Architecten.
